Enjoy winter fun!  Explore the Sunshine Coast in winter.  Sunshine Coast winters are mild, but you can easily get to the snow for snowshoeing, cross country skiing or sledding.  This spectacular area offers a wide range of terrain for all ability levels,  with fabulous views as you experience the incredible magic of winter.

Dakota Ridge (Sechelt)

An ideal winter destination for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Amazing views of the Coast Mountains, Vancouver Island, and Georgia Straight capture the magic of the Sunshine Coast. Dakota Ridge is accessed by 13 km of maintained 4-wheel drive forest service road.  Guided Tours, equipment rentals and shuttle service are available to the mountain.

Knucklehead Recreation Area (Powell River)

Tobogganing, Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing are only a short distance from the major community of Powell River in the Knuckleheads Recreation Area. The recreation area is approximately 3 miles by 2 miles (unofficial) of gently sloped terrain. The area is part of the provincial forest that is maintained as a working forest, a portion has been logged and replanted, the clear-cut areas and the old logging roads are very suitable for winter traveling on either skis or snowshoes.  Snowshoe equipment rentals are available in Powell River.
