Roberts Creek - The Gumboot Nation

Beautiful Roberts Creek Beach
Beautiful Roberts Creek Beach
.
Roberts Creek is affectionately referred to as 'The Gumboot Nation' (you will see why when you visit!).  Creekers are diverse, including business people, hippies, artisans and commuters - the community is unique.  It is a haven for artists, artisans and craftspeople, many of whom open their home studios to the public.  Also, venues in Roberts Creek frequently draw known artists who like the chance to include a little R&R in their road trips, just like the rest of us.

A good example of the eclectic nature of Roberts Creek can be found in the name of its annual march down the hill for Roberts Creek Daze: it is none other than the Higgeldy Piggeldy Parade.
There is a walking pier, sandy/rocky beach, estuary and a beautiful community mandala at the water. If you like to pick mussels and oysters and look for seashells, the beach at the Roberts Creek picnic grounds is a good place to visit at low tide.

Just up the hill from the beach is the Roberts Creek General Store, Gumboot Restaurant, Gumboot Café and the Heart of the Creek shopping area with gifts, clothing, organic food, outdoor gear with new stores opening on a regular basis.  Kayak rentals and tours are also available in the heart of The Creek for those wanting to explore the water further
Raise activity levels with a walk through the primeval beauty of Cliff Gilker Park located off Highway 101, or visit the many hiking, biking, and horse-riding trails accessed from above the highway. Roberts Creek is a great hangout for the serious mountain biker. Three major loop trails - Roberts Creek (18.5 miles/30 km), Clack Creek (7.5 miles/12 km), and the Brodie Race Trails (4.5 miles/7.5 km) - will wear the tread off any tire and introduce riders to shorter technical routes such as Three Steps, the Mexican Jumping Bean Trail, Black Tower, and Portage, all accessed from B&K Road, just east of Roberts Creek Provincial Park.

Roberts Creek Provincial Park straddles Highway 101, about 6 miles (9 km) west of Gibsons, and offers vehicle/tent campsites. Lush second-growth forest is the setting for the park's picnic grounds and beach, the entrance to which lies south of the campground on Elphinstone Road, where you'll find two dozen tables arranged beside the ocean.
If you are looking for laid-back atmosphere with new age ambiance, "The Creek" is the place to be.
